I really enjoyed the learning experience with you and feel that I am equipped to provide compassionate relationship counselling as a result. You work so well together and look forward to joining you again on another course at sometime in the future.
- Are you a relationship therapist and wish you could use creative approaches to support your work?
- Do you think that your clients might benefit from exploring their experiences with their partner symbolically due to a traumatic history?
- Perhaps you are curious about the power of creative tools to enhance the depth of a relationship?
- Maybe you have used the arts before and want to expand your toolbox?
About The Course
PLEASE NOTE: this course needs to run in person due to the nature of the learning experience, we have every intention to do this. Should Covid19 restrictions prevent this, we will offer a postponed date or full refund.
Join us for a day of hands on experiential learning where you can immerse yourself in the relational nature of the arts. Through mediums such as the sand tray, collage, painting and imagery you will learn why creative approaches can be so healing in couple therapy.
Sometimes words are hard to find and partners can struggle to understand their own or others triggers or unmet needs. By tapping into the unconscious through the creative arts, your clients can share their experiences with each other symbolically or through the metaphor in a safe and containing way.
You will learn skills or strengthen existing knowledge about how to introduce creative techniques into your couple work and develop an awareness of how best to deepen communication between your clients.
The course is a unique mix of theoretical understanding but with a focus on practical learning, participant will have opportunities for small group work, practising therapeutic skills and whole group discussion. This will also be a wonderful opportunity to enliven your ‘Free Child’ self and play.
Who Should Attend?
This training is ideal for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists or trainees with some clinical experience who work with couples/relationships. Whether you are new to creative therapy or you have been utilising the arts in your work for some time, this training can offer a fresh perspective influenced by neuroscience and trauma informed approaches. This could also be useful for other professionals offering therapeutic interventions such as social workers or mental health specialists.
