What is SandStory Therapy® ?

  • SandStory Therapy® is a powerful tool in helping clients explore a conscious connection with their unconscious processes/patterns, to create deep healing.
  • SandStory Therapy® uses a careful mix of storytelling within the safe container of a sand tray. By using elements such as sand, water and symbols, clients are able to make meaning and share their untold story.
  • SandStory Therapy® has been developed by Lara Kasza to incorporate both theories of Lowenfeld’s ‘World Technique’ which became ‘Sandtray’, and Jungian ideas about ‘Sandplay’ into a supportive framework, allowing clients to gently express themselves.
  • SandStory Therapy® is client led, but invites a gentle wondering by the SandStory Therapist to support each person’s unique processing of their inner world.
  • SandStory Therapy® can be used effectively with young children, older children, teenagers and adults alike.

About The Course

This 2-day experiential workshop is the core training in SandStory Therapy® and successful completion leads to participants becoming a Registered SandStory Therapist.

The course will cover:

  • History and development of SandStory Therapy®
  • Bringing presence to your therapeutic work
  • The 5 stage SandStory Therapy® model
  • Storytelling in the sand
  • Using the Gestalt approach in the sand
  • Working with transference to deepen the client’s process
  • SandStory Therapy® case studies
  • Clinical application of SandStory Therapy®
  • Working as a SandStory Therapist

Over the weekend you will have an opportunity to get a sensory experience in the sand, learning in-person how to use this innovative and cutting edge approach with your clients whether they are 8 years or 80 years old. SandStory Therapy® helps clients work deeply and safely with all aspects of their life.

The benefits of all sand therapies are vast but SandStory Therapy® is unique in the way it invites the therapist to work within a 5 stage model. This model helps them feel confident and competent in offering this magical medium to clients.

Using a gentle, warm and wondering approach, the SandStory Therapist can support the client to bring greater conscious awareness of their unconscious inner self, by holding space for client to ‘tell their story in the sand’.

The wonderful thing about using the SandStory Therapy® approach is how inviting change and exploration of possibility in the sand, can lead to profound change in real life. Adults clients often notice deep shifts in their healing journey when working with sand.

Participants will leave the weekend with a sound understanding of how to use SandStory Therapy® safely in their work with children and adults and open themselves to a new style of working.

A private Facebook group will be available after the training to support participants to implement SandStory Therapy® into their work. You can share ideas, questions or exciting symbol finds with Shana and other therapists.

Assessment:

On finishing the course, participants will need to complete 2 tasks to qualify.

  1. 500 word training reflection (your experiences and learning from the weekend)
  2. 1000 word anonymised case study demonstrating how you have used SandStory Therapy® with one client

The course is limited to very small numbers – a maximum of 6 people, so the learning and support can be tailored to each person.

A workbook to guide you through the materials and for reference afterwards will be provided on the first day.

Please get in touch at shana@heartfultherapy.co.uk with any questions or to discuss any learning needs or requirements.

I hope to welcome you to the world of SandStory Therapy®
